Drain Cleaning Basics
There are two distinctly different approaches to drain cleaning. These are “Drain Clearing” and “Drain Cleaning”. Most drain cleaning technicians subscribe to the drain clearing method.
Drain clearing techs will cable or jet a line open, then pull back, wrap up, and be finished. Drain cleaning techs, on the other hand, will clear a stoppage, whether it be by cable or jet, but will then go back and forth through the stoppage area, as well as the entire line being cleaned. They will typically go out and back 4 or more times. This will ensure that the line stays cleaner longer. Lines that are cleaned stay clear longer. Lines that are only cleared, need to be cleaned more often.
