RootX is a 2 part, dry powder product, that, when mixed with water, turns into a thick foam, that is carried down drain lines, and is sucked up by the roots, which are growing into drain pipes. When this product is used as directed, it has been found to work exceptionally well in the control of roots growing inside of drain pipes. It’s non-systemic formula, based on di-chlobenyl, will not harm the tree itself, but will kill the last couple of feet of roots, which are present at and near drain pipes. This product is typically introduced into drain lines on a yearly basis. RootX needs a 6-8 hour dwell time in order to take full effect. This means that no water can go down drain lines during this time, just after RootX is installed. RootX can extend the life of a pipe, that otherwise would be repaired or replaced.
